Wake & Surf Boat Service
Real Wake Marine is built around wake and surf boats, which is a genuinely different machine from anything else on the water: heavy, ballasted, run at low speed under sustained load.

Why a wake boat is a different machine
Not marketing — these are real mechanical differences, and they're why a general marine tech and a wake boat tech aren't the same thing.
It's carrying two or three thousand extra pounds. Ballast is the entire point, and everything downstream of it — engine, transmission, drivetrain, running gear, the hull itself — is working against weight that no other recreational boat carries deliberately.
It runs slowly under heavy load. This is the important one. A surf set is a long stretch at ten or eleven miles an hour with the boat as heavy as it will ever be. That's maximum engine load with minimum water speed, which means less cooling flow and more exhaust heat at exactly the moment the engine is working hardest. It's the opposite of how most boats accumulate their hours, and it's why cooling and exhaust components on wake boats deserve more attention than the hour meter suggests.
Hours accumulate faster than owners expect. Sessions are long and the engine never rests. A wake boat with four seasons on it has usually done more real work than a runabout with twice the calendar age.
There's an entire subsystem no other boat has. Ballast pumps, tanks or bags, valves, plumbing runs and sensors — plus surf gates or tabs and their actuators. It's a lot of components, most of them wet, most of them cycling constantly.
The electrical load is serious. Multiple battery banks, amplifiers, heaters, showers, ballast pumps and digital dashes. Charging systems and batteries on these boats work harder than on anything comparable.
Access is tight. A V-drive puts the engine at the transom facing backwards, under a hatch shared with ballast plumbing and wiring. More on drive architecture.
Boats we service
Malibu · Axis · MasterCraft · Nautique · Supra · Moomba · Centurion · Supreme · Tigé · Heyday — and the rest of the category.
Engines are almost universally marinised V8s from Indmar, PCM or Ilmor. The mechanical work is inboard and V-drive service, and the annual schedule is here.
Not listed? Ask. The category is more alike than different under the hatch.
What we do
Everything mechanical, at your boat:
Engine and drivetrain — diagnostics, scheduled service, cooling, exhaust, alignment and V-drive work. Inboard and sterndrive repair.
Scheduled maintenance — oil, filters, impeller, anodes, alignment and bellows on a tracked calendar. Annual service.
Ballast and surf systems — pumps, valves, plumbing and actuators.
Electrical — charging, batteries, and the loads that flatten them.
Season transitions — winterisation and commissioning, which on an inboard is not optional.
Drive work — bellows and gimbal bearings on sterndrive installations, raw-water impellers on everything.

Where the work happens
At your lift, slip, moorage or driveway — the boat doesn't move. Service area · how on-site service works.
Wake boats mostly live on lifts, which suits us: a lift is the easiest place there is to work on a drive.
Why owners call us
We know the category, not just the engine. A marinised V8 is familiar to plenty of mechanics. Ballast plumbing, surf actuators, sustained-low-speed cooling behaviour and V-drive access are not.
A person, not a service desk. NAME does the work and answers the phone.
Licensed and insured. CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSE # and $XM liability — what moorages and marinas require.
Published rates and diagnosis before quote.

Frequently asked questions
Do you service wake boats, or just outboards?
Wake and surf boats are core work. They're V-drive inboards, which is the category most mobile techs decline and a large share of what we do.
Can you work on my boat while it's on the lift?
Yes, and a lift is ideal — better access to the drive and running gear than a slip.
Do you work on ballast and surf systems, or only the engine?
Both. Pumps, valves, plumbing and surf actuators are as much a part of these boats as the engine, and they fail more often.
My boat is still under warranty. Should I use the dealer?
For warranty work, yes — don't jeopardise a claim. For everything outside it, we're usually faster.
How often does a wake boat need servicing?
Annually at minimum, and hours matter more here than on most boats because sessions are long and the engine works hard throughout. Interval detail.
Do you winterise wake boats?
Yes, and on an inboard it isn't optional — water sits in the block, manifolds and heat exchanger, and a freeze cracks whichever it's in.
What engine does my boat have?
Almost certainly an Indmar, PCM or Ilmor marinised GM V8. More on those.
