MasterCraft Service & Repair

Most MasterCraft owners we meet don't have a mechanical problem so much as a calendar problem — the boat is fine, it's just been waiting six weeks for someone to look at it.

The season is short and the queue isn't

The Pacific Northwest boating season is compressed enough already. Losing four to six weeks of it to a service backlog is a meaningful share of the year, and it's the complaint we hear most often from owners of boats in this class.

Your boat stays on its lift. We come to it. No trailering to a dealer, no dropping it off, no waiting for a slot in someone else's calendar.

Scheduled service can be booked around your use, including outside peak weeks. Winterisation and spring commissioning in particular are far easier to get done at a sensible time when the boat doesn't have to go anywhere.

For warranty work, use the dealer — that's what it's for. For everything else, the queue is optional.

Know which engine you have

MasterCraft has changed engine suppliers over the years, and model year determines what's in your boat — which in turn determines parts, service procedures and diagnostics.

Older boats: Indmar. Engine service detail.
Newer boats: Ilmor. Different supplier, different parts, different service data.

Tell us the model year when you book. It's the difference between arriving with the right parts and arriving twice. If you're not sure, a photo of the engine plate settles it.

Both are marinised V8s and both share the category's characteristic wear points — exhaust manifolds and risers, raw-water plumbing, and cooling under sustained low-speed load. Why wake boats work engines hard.

FAQ

How long will I be without the boat?
For most scheduled work, not at all — we come to the boat and it stays where it is.

Can you service it during the season?
Yes, and that's largely the point. You don't lose weeks of a short season to a queue.

What engine is in my MasterCraft?
Depends on model year — Indmar on older boats, Ilmor on newer ones. The engine plate confirms it.

Should I use the dealer instead?
For warranty claims, yes. Outside warranty it's a question of how quickly you want the boat back.

Do you do winterisation and spring commissioning?
Yes, and booking outside peak weeks means it actually happens when you want it to. On an inboard, winterisation isn't optional.

Can you work on it while it's on the lift?
Yes — a lift is the best access there is on these boats.

Do you work on ballast and surf systems?
Yes. They fail more often than the engine does.

My boat has high hours for its age. Is that a problem?
Not inherently, but it means cooling and exhaust deserve attention sooner than the calendar suggests.
