Beyond the county
Portland metro and the Willamette — Portland, Sauvie Island, Multnomah Channel, Hayden Island moorages, Oregon City. Regular coverage. Travel is quoted before booking.
Washington side — Longview, Kelso, Kalama, Woodland, Ridgefield. See below.
Further out — by arrangement — the coast toward Astoria, Vernonia and the Nehalem side, Hagg Lake and the Tualatin valley, the Gorge.
Outside all of that? Call anyway. Boat work justifies a drive more often than car work does, and we'd rather tell you honestly than have you wonder.
If you're on the Washington side
Worth knowing, because most owners over there haven't done the arithmetic.
There are more boat shops in Longview and Cowlitz County than there are on the Oregon side of the river. More choice, and closer to home for a lot of Washington owners.
But Oregon has no sales tax. On a job where parts are the larger share of the bill — and on boat work they very often are, with exhaust manifolds running into the thousands — that difference is real money, not a rounding error.
We see Washington owners cross the river for exactly that reason. If you're weighing it up, get a quote from both sides and compare the totals rather than the labour rates.
The water we work on
The Columbia — the main event out here, and the better river for it. It's wider, deeper and carries more fresh water than the Willamette, which picks up everything Portland puts into it on the way down. Ramps and moorages from Scappoose Bay up through St. Helens, Rainier and Clatskanie.
Multnomah Channel and Sauvie Island — moorages, houseboats and a lot of boats that live in the water year-round.
Scappoose Bay — shallower, sheltered, and where a lot of the smaller boats and fishing rigs launch.
The Willamette — where it meets the Columbia there's a rock formation that has cost more than one owner a lower unit. We've repaired the results.
Lakes — Hagg Lake, Vernonia Lake, and the Portland-side lakes by arrangement.
Where we meet the boat
Your driveway, on the trailer. Most common out here — most Columbia County boats live at home.
A dock or moorage. Including boats that never get trailered at all. Some of our customers have never touched their trailer — they walk down and the boat's ready for the season.
A storage lot or a lift.
The ramp, if it failed on the water and got recovered.
Out-calls and emergencies
Boat trouble is different from car trouble. A car stops at the side of the road. A boat keeps moving, and depending where you are that ranges from inconvenient to genuinely dangerous — above the falls at Oregon City, a boat that loses power is drifting toward something you cannot come back from.
We take emergency calls. If you're on the water and something has gone wrong, get to a dock or a ramp — or get a tow — and call PHONE. We'll meet the boat.

Do you charge to come out?
No call-out charge inside Columbia County. Beyond it, travel is quoted before we book — never added afterwards. Rates.
Do you cover Portland?
Yes, regularly. Columbia County is home ground and Portland is standard coverage with travel quoted.
I'm in Longview. Is it worth crossing the river?
Often, yes — Oregon charges no sales tax, and on a parts-heavy boat job that's a real difference. Compare the total, not the hourly rate.
Can you meet me at the ramp?
Yes, and we do it regularly for boats that failed on the water.
Do you come to a dock, or does the boat need trailering?
Either. Plenty of our customers never trailer their boat at all.
I'm outside your area. Is it worth asking?
Yes. Boat repair justifies a drive more often than car repair does. Larger jobs frequently make it work.
Do you work on the coast?
By arrangement. Saltwater boats are a different proposition and we've worked on them — ask.
